My Guy

So I saw an interesting challenge over at the That's just so cute blog...they wanted to see some imaginative backgrounds.....Be creative use something other than a pattern paper or card stock. ...of course your allowed to use cardboard as a base, but then you have to cover the whole thing with something other than scrap stuff before scrapping it

I thought about this some...at first I was going to reuse a shipping envelope...you know the ones with the bubble wrap inside ...well that didn't wok out so well...the paint wouldn't stick to it and either would the texture paste LOL so I went with plan B... I tend to reuse lots of things in my crafting so I have a pile of shipping box's and a stack of brown paper bags...So I put them to good use...I cut a 12x12 piece of cardboard then tore up the brown paper bag and adhered it to the cardboard to create my background...I used some ink around the edge to make it look aged and used some texture paste...I used some heart doilies I had gotten at the thrift store and a page from an old book...the only card stock I used was to Matte my picture and cut my tile...ok enough babbling here is what I made....

Cutie

Good morning my scrappy friends...I wanted to share a layout I finished last night...I kind of combined a couple challenges so bare with me...first I used all the ingredients from the A2ZScapplets challenge-
The ingredients are-the colour red-material or felt-sewing, (machine, hand, or faux)-more than 1 photo
-paint or mist -an A2Z scraplet (Chipboard). Then I used a bottle cap for the challenge over at Scrap for Help.....finally I used the tic tac toe board from 123 get scrappy... here is what I came up with...

Not so much a real smile just a smirk!

I used a circle stencil for my texture paste and a smaller circle stencil with ink....the chipboard piece is in the upper rt hand corner..I used a pearl painter dabber and red paint I used my heat gun to make it bubble ..love that effect!

Don't you just love the butterflies...I am proud to say I did those LOL I actually made those for a crafty game on one of the FB groups I belong to and I had no idea what I was going to do with them after since I made them on a piece of scrap canvas....I thought they went pretty well with this page so I stitched them right to the layout!

Lets Explore

I wanted to share a sweet layout I just finished, I used the sketch from C'est Magnifique and the criteria from Scrap Africa (challenge is "White with a pinch of" and is about creating a project that is 90% white and 10% any other colors.) and created this page of my wonderful furbaby Nova....she was out back exploring chasing the leaves as they fell from the trees....

Lots of white and just a bit of other colors! I truly love how this page turned out!

By the Sea

When I first saw the challenge over at Archi-scraps I had this really cool idea based on the inspiration picture...then I saw the added criteria....hmmm back to thinking LOL there was no way to combine my idea and the sea it just wouldn't work .I had two separate ideas...one from the image and one from the criteria ..So I sat for awhile staring at the inspiration picture....I really loved the lattice work/diamond shape..so I used that as a masking and part of the background...then sprayed it with copper shimmer spritz ...it looks like sand I also used the blue from the inspiration image....I finally found away to combine my ideas...
the picture is from the last time I was at the ocean...I love sea shells and me and the girls spent the afternoon looking for pretty shells...I have quite a few in my memory box but they were all too heavy to put on a layout so I made a few with my Silhouette and you can't not have seagulls...they are a must have!

added criteria is The Sea

just a close up of my shells....Thanks for coming to take a peek!

I just couldn't throw this picture away... we has just bought our very first house with a huge beautiful backyard...this was the very first time my daughter Sam was able to play in her very own yard on her own swings... it was wonderful to see! I did a bit of journaling...its tucked under the sides under the lace!

A gift...

with the holidays coming and so many special occasions I thought it would be nice to make a couple things to hold gift cards...this just happens to go along with the challenge over at frosted designs - asking everyone to play along with my "gifted" challenge. It is wide open: create a card that holds a gift or gift card, a gift tag, bag, box, a layout about a gift!

here are a couple example of what I made.... this one I just finished...I have three other just like it for christmas
this one I can add a gift card and small items

and this one I made for my best friend...since she put up with me and Hubby for a whole week, she deserves something special...the way to her heart is a coffee gift card LOL

My Happy Place

Hmmm where is your happy place? This month at Once Upon A  Sketch the journaling is about your Happy Place...I didn't even have to think about it....it was a close toss up between family dinners( which we don't have anymore lol everyone has other places to be) or the lake....the lake won...It truly funny that no matter where we have live there was a lake and it was always my favorite place to be...okay that's kind of a fib...when I lived in Connecticut I loved the ocean but everywhere else its been a lake and here is no exception...I used a picture from my favorite spot at Devils lake, we caught the sun setting...I could take a book and sit there for hours....

I did a lot of journaling some is showing but the rest is tucked away....

SATW layout

Good day scrappers....I know I've been slacking the last couple of weeks,I've been busy behind the scenes and not posting to much to my blog. Now its time to play catch up...Most of my followers know I started scrapping after the loss of my youngest daughter Stephanie in September 2012... I wanted to do a memorial album, which as it turns out has been very therapeutic and its also helped remember some of best days we had with her...I go into this now because Nov 2 was her 15th birthday and friends and family gathered to do a balloon release in her honor! I did a page that was bright and up lifting because that's just how I want to remember her! The Mood board from Scrap Around the world  was just perfect for my balloon picture and just set the mood for the whole page!

I used the rainbow colors and the heart as inspiration...I loved the background until I added the hearts...then not so much LOL But I worked with it until I liked it again!
